Look how big my family is getting! I just love it! I promise this will be the last of my Christmas posts but I just couldn't resist posting pictures of our actual gift-opening "Christmas" day with the Wilson side. Even after 3 nights with this crew, I still didn't have my fill. Highlights of the day included dress up clothes for Isla (thanks Uncle Ben!), watching my Dad tear up as he opened the canvas portraits of his grandchildren (thanks to the talented John Crozier) and just plain being together as a family of 4 and as extended family of 13! I'll let the pictures tell the rest.

12 Days of Christmas!
We really celebrated "The 12 Days of Christmas" this year! With Graham working on the 24th and 25th, we "moved" Christmas Eve to the 25th and Christmas to the 26th. But then we it felt wrong not to do anything on the 24th so we sort of celebrated Christmas Eve twice. Then there was real Christmas. And "fake" Christmas. And Crozier "fake" Christmas. It kind of felt like the movie Groundhog Day except with Christmas'. Every day Isla woke up asking if it was Christmas and we just answered "yes!" My whole family was able to gather up in Bellingham for a couple of nights to celebrate. We spent leisurely days playing at Grandpa and Grandma's while waiting for Graham to drive up from Bellevue in the evenings (he was a commuting trooper!) Activities included a Christmas Eve service at my parents' church, delicious meals, a surprise outing (in PJs!) to see Christmas lights, and baking and eating a birthday cake for Jesus. Here's some of my favorite shots of the 2 days leading up to "Christmas":

Christmas at the Croziers
It gets bigger every year! Graham's work schedule during Christmas week was *cough* not so great but I was able to switch my work days around a bit so we could have a pocket of time on the 23rd to celebrate with the Crozier side. This year we were excited to welcome Scotty and his girlfriend Kristen into town the night before our big celebration. Their flight kept getting bumped later and later but they finally arrived ~9:30 PM so we could EAT.
Miss Isla pie was still chattin' it up with herself in bed and so we let her come down for her second dinner - cheese fondue followed by chocolate fondue for the adults!
We had a giant slumber party so we could all wake up together and have Christmas. Stockings came first and the girls had a ball!
We ate a delicious breakfast of cinnamon rolls and eggs and then headed off to church.
The girls were so happy to see their uncle and something tells me the feeling was mutual. He spoiled them (all of us actually) rotten with Christmas gifts!
Our lovely hostess
John and Tash's gift to us was the highlight for both Graham and I. They MADE us the coolest wooden Advent Countdown Calendar! It has 25 drawers for us to fill with special goodies or activity ideas to do together to countdown to Christmas as a family. I was SO excited when I opened it because I'd been desperately wanting to make one for the girls this year but had to prioritize and only was able to manage the bare minimum this season. What a labor of love - thanks John & Tash! Seriously. We are going to build so many memories using it.
After gifts, we ate "Christmas" dinner. Graham contributed his famous duck with cherry port sauce and I made a kale and beet salad (red and green!) Alas, I have no food pictures to post. Then rest of the evening was leisurely with good conversations and plenty of sugar. I am so lucky to have married in to such a fun family!

Makin' Muffins
This morning I gathered the troops to whip up a batch of muffins. It was the first time I really let Emma get in there and "help" and she was NOT about to give up her spoon! Isla and I had to play zone defense when we were scooping the batter into the muffin tins because Emma kept nose- diving for raw handfuls. (She only got 4).
Unfortunately this post will not include a recipe because our "muffins" closely resemble a hockey puck in weight. I blame the recipe, not these adorable chefs!

Oh Blogger!
Why oh why is it that on the days when I have a moment to post, blogger is down for the count and won't let me post pictures? I was hoping to upload a gazillion of Christmas pictures to summarize our past few weeks but it looks like I have to postpone that plan.
Lo siento to all my readers. You will just have to endure a boring, picture-less post filled with random ramblings.
Well, winter quarter has commenced! We are 5 days in and I haven't cried yet (this is a very, very good sign!) I am hopeful that last quarter was the hardest part but now that we've proven to ourselves that we can do it, we can coast* to the finish in June. Of course, we're only 5 days in but hey, I'm trying to be positive here.
*And by coast I mean Graham working 60-80 hour weeks with me holding down the fort alone at home. Somehow though that no longer feels like a death sentence since we've been there, down that and come out ok on the other side.
It probably helps that Graham is easing back into the quarter with only 1 to 1 1/2 days of clinicals per week for the month of January since the school was unable to find enough preceptors to work with. Unfortunately the downside to "easing in" is that his spring break will be eliminated as he will have to make up for those lost clinical hours during that time. But, I have a hard time complaining because he was placed at a clinic at Evergreen Hospital which is exactly 1.9 miles from our house. It beats commuting to Pullayup 5 times over. Maybe 10. Yesterday he even came home and ate lunch with us - amazing!
As an aside, I feel like I often list my blessings and they include a wonderful family, good friends, lovely children, yummy food, shelter etc etc. But sometimes I forget to mention my FREAKIN' AWESOME husband! (And no, this is not a blog hack). I fell in love with him all over again in the past week and a half. I sometimes find myself speechlessly in awe that I am the lucky girl he calls his wife. Our personalities could not be more different but it works and it works really well. I love dreaming with him, the way he parents our girls, the way he goes along with basically any crazy idea that I come up with. I love that I can tell him "Hey! I need a plane ticket with my name on it" and his response is "Ok!" I love our marriage and praise God it has only grown stronger during this busy season!
So here's to the second to last quarter of grad school! 11 down, 2 more to go - wooohooo!

Emma: 16 Months
This one's gonna be TROUBLE, I just know it! I uploaded most all of this series of pictures a couple days ago and now that I'm seeing them all together, I feel like I she re-title the post "10 Reasons We Need Eyes on the Back of our Heads." She's a sly one and I just know we're going to have to repaint a wall or two because of her!
She's ridiculously adorable with that toothy grin (still only has 4 of em'!) But tonight I watched her grab a magnet from the fridge in the kitchen, take it into the bathroom and attempt to disengage the magnetic child safety locks on the cupboard filled with cleaning supplies...How she knew to do that is beyond me!
I heard Emma squawking one day and came up to find her in her room like this. She's mastered the art of climbing and can pretty much get in the bath by herself (awesome!) and also loves to stand up on the stool at the sink. Unfortunately she hasn't quite figured out how to get down and will just stand there and yell "Mom! Mom! Mom!" until I come to the rescue. She also does the same after closing herself into various rooms of the house (mostly the dark bathroom).
Yes, she is now officially refering to me as "Mom" now I think mostly because she pronounces Emma "Mama" and needed a way to differentiate the two. The way she says it is adorable. Her very favorite word though is "Yeah" which she says ALL the time when you ask her a question. She also now makes an "uh-uh" sound and shakes her head and pushes you away when she doesn't want something.
Because of her rapid weight gain at her 15 month appointment last month, her Dr cautioned me that we needn't do any "just two more bites" business with Emma. We should trust her when she says she's done eating and not force her to eat more. I almost fell over - I have never, ever had to encourage this child to eat!! And she's got a cute little belly to show for it! :)
Emma is really into animal sounds right now and knows what the monkey says (eee-eee) and what the bird says (high pitched squeaking) but her favorite is definitely the fish (mouth opening and closing) which she does constantly. She's also learning to make a buzzing sound and pretend bee with her finger is a bee flying around which is pretty cute. Isla keeps trying to teach her goat but none of us really know what to do for that one.
She is still scared to death of dogs (she shakes and screams like a granny who just saw a mouse) but she's warming up ever so slightly with time. I can tell she really actually likes them but is just fearful when they come close. I did catch her petting our friends' dog Tucker a couple hours into our visit which is a BIG step. She sure loved my parents kitties over Christmas but unfortnately the feeling was NOT mutual.
Emma LOVES wrapping things around her neck - ropes, garlands, clothes....anything she can find. I finally caved and got her a soft boa scarf for Christmas thinking it'd be safer than things like the leather cord pictured below!
Emmy Bear (one of her nickname around here) also loves to "dress" herself and seeing articles of clothing on her head no longer seems out of the ordinary.
My sweet girl has killer eyes the color of blue jeans!
Seriously, I just never quite know what I'm going to find when I look away for 2 seconds. Here she is with the bottom rack of the dishwasher that I caught her pushing around the living room like a shopping cart!
In addition to the dishwasher rack (????), she also really enjoys pushing her new corn popper toy all around the house. Though these pictures indicate otherwise, she can often be found quietly reading a stack of books in the corner. She's a total snuggle bug, gives tons of kisses and loves to dance and hum and play the piano.

Happy New Year!
2012. Supportive family. Really good friends. Deepening relationships. Tears. Leadership opportunities. Long days. New cousins. Loneliness. Good food. Too many hours. Laughter. Car trouble. Travel. New friends. Total and utter exhaustion. Doing life. Dinners outside. Learning. Sweet moments with the girls. Precious dates. Growth.
It's been a really good year. A really, really hard year. Probably not one I would like to repeat as a whole yet crammed with oh so many moments I want to bottle up and remember forever! We are richly blessed.
Graham and I have shared some good moments of deep conversation today, dreaming about the future, thinking about our priorities in life. I am grateful I married a man who cherishes experiences more than things, who wants to support his family but doesn't care about money, who loves the Lord and wants Him to be the center of all we do.
I haven't formulated any official new year's resolutions per se but there are a few things we hope to do as a family this year:
-start a prayer journal
-spend one-on-one time with each of our precious girls
-date each other
-GET GRAHAM GRADUATED!!!
2013 is going to be a big year for us and I'm sure there is a lot of change on the horizon but I'd excited it's finally here. Happy New Year!
