Maternity Clothes

I need your help! For all you moms and moms-to-be out there, I'm looking for recommendations on where to buy cute, cheap maternity clothes. Any favorites? People keep telling me to check out kids consignment stores but I don't know of any off the top of my head. Of course I like new things too. :o) Either way, I'd appreciate input as the shopping begins on Saturday!

  1. Honestly? Go to forever21 - it was advice I was given when I was needing clothes and let me tell you, it was a great place to find cheap clothes (long shirts are so 'in' these days)! You might find that maternity clothes do not fit well.. they seem to make the arm holes HUGE - as if you gain a ton of weight in your arms instead of your middle. I bought a bunch of large tops from forever21 - they're cheap and trendy. As for pants/jeans I got a pair at old navy and one at motherhood maternity. I also got quite a few pairs of yoga type pants from old navy...when I would get home from work that's all I'd wear because they were SO comfy. I also got skirts at old navy - but it's hit or miss. The red dress I wore at my shower was from forever21.

There's a store next to bellevue square...on the north side - don't know the name (I just know it was a maternity store). I saw it this past weekend and wondered why I hadn't heard of it before and tried to find things there. I would imagine they have some designer jeans and such if you're into that. Other than those ideas...I had some borrowed tops from Kim and a pair of Old Navy jeans from Kari - yay for sister in laws!

    Good luck!

  2. yeah that's what I was going to suggest too, I went to forever21 back when I was pregnant with Simon (I had to go to Portland :)) and got cheap stretchy basics that ended up lasting me two pregnancy's and I even gave some of the clothes to my Sister in law Jenny when she was pregnant!
I also love Old Navy and Gap for good priced cute maternity stuff.

word to the wise spend almost all your money on a really cute pair of Jeans like Sevens or Citizens of Humanity if you can and a basic black skirt and then it's just cheap tops that will mix it all up!

    good luck!

  3. I really loved my gap maternity stuff - I went downtown to try everything on when there was a sale. It fit so much better for me and wasn't super huge. I did outgrow a lot of it by the end though.

I also found some cute cheap shirts at Buffalo exhange - a lot of the ones made just for them are really long and only $15. I did normal sized old navy stuff too.

Lastly, at Target, they mix in the clearance maternity with all the other clearance, so be sure to go carefully through all the racks. That said...I never really loved anything I bought there. OH well.

Oh! One more tip - if you find a shirt for a really good price that you love right now & fits not huge - buy another one in a size bigger for the end of your pregnancy. (get one that fits now & one bigger for later)

I also loved my Bella band. Ok, done, I promise.
