5 weeks (a little late)

Our little Miss Isla is a growing girl!
  • Yesterday, at her 1 month check up, she weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, was 20 3/4 inches long and her head circumference was 36.5 cm (all around the 50th percentile)
  • She moved to her own room last Wednesday night in preparation for Graham's return to work (since he saves lives for a living, we figured good sleep was essential and something we hadn't experienced in 4 weeks with our noisy roommate)!! Graham's sleeping better and I've had a couple better nights. We still hear all of Isla's grunts through the monitor, but at least now we can control the volume!
  • Isla is gaining neck control and is also developing stronger legs. There have been a few times when she has kicked her legs while lying on my lap (with legs touching my stomach) and almost catapulted herself onto the floor.
  • She is now wearing Costco's size 1-2 diapers which made for a very sad day for me. I didn't want her diaper size to change because it means she's "growing up" and I'm not ready for it yet! :o) The Costco diapers are a bit roomy and she actually would still fit into the newborn size but we ran out and they are so stinking expensive that we decided to make the switch.
  • Isla got to take her first trip to Everett to meet some of my coworkers on Sunday. She was on her best behavior and everyone was really excited to see what she looked like OUTSIDE of me (they all said she looks like daddy). This little girl has about 12 billion different facial expressions that are hilarious to watch.

  • One of Isla's favorite activities is sit on someone's lap in our living room and stare at our bright red wall....hey, there's nothing wrong with cheap entertainment!
  • Isla attended her very first surprise birthday party this week. It occurred to me on the way over How on earth are we going to keep her quiet to not ruin the surprise? Well, I might have accidentally stumbled upon a new trick for getting the girl to sleep: Take her into a pitch black bathroom and remain completely quiet (a few bounces up and down are permissible ONLY if they can be done silently). One minute later, wah-lah!! She's asleep (only to be startled awake of course when everyone yelled surprise). :o)
  • The doctor says she's going to keep her bright blue eyes! Hooray!
